Celebrating Silver to Copper Saturday, September 26, 2015

In 1954 First Presbyterian Church took the first step in moving from its location at 5th and Silver SW into the Huning Highland neighborhood at Copper and Locust NE. The sanctuary and the adjacent Westminster House were dedicated in September of 1955. This year the congregation is celebrating the 60th anniversary of its ministry at this location.

You are invited to participate on Saturday afternoon, September 26, 2015 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Brent Kelly’s Jazz Band will be playing on the south patio and food will be provided by Irrational Pie, a pizza food truck and an ice cream truck. Children’s activities will include making tie dye butterflies. 1955 + automobiles will be on display.

Dr. James Yeager, organist and director of music, will give demonstration on the sixty year old Moeller organ. Four videos will run simultaneously in the Fellowship Hall. The Videos will include clips from the 1954 groundbreaking, photographs provided by House Construction Company on building the church edifice, and interviews with members who are engaged in recalling the project. The church’s stained glass windows will also be featured.
